Veronica Polanco

Piece Title: Beyond Dreaming

Medium: Paper, collage, embroidery

About the Piece: The piece originated from one thought the artist had as she waited on breast exam results, "If I do have breast cancer, at least I get to take time off from work." A thought that sounded the alarm for the artist to realize just how burnt out she felt, how she was so far from how she wanted to live that even medical leave sounded like a break from her life. This piece is an homage to go beyond dreaming, to really examine how one wants to spend the time we have. Ultimately, this piece serves as a reminder for the artist to listen to her deepest desires and do the damn thing.

Artist Bio: Veronica is a lover of creativity. She gets paid to make things with software, and she enjoys expressing herself through other mediums like dance, art and writing. She makes art for all of her ancestors who couldn't walk down that road, especially... for those who couldn't even see the path.
